Post-secondary students in Ontario continue to pay the highest tuition fees in the country.
And Confederation College President Jim Madder isn’t arguing that fact. However, he says that there’s quite a difference in what students pay for college versus university. The average tuition at Confederation College is $3,500 and it’s about double that for university.
Madder says it’s unfortunate that many students choose not to go to college or university because they simply can’t afford it. He says that for students who are living away from home, the costs of living, food etc. can add up to a couple thousand dollars.
But all is not lost.
Madder says Confederation College operates nine campuses across Northwestern Ontario, including Dryden. Together, there are about 19 different programs offered, and Madder says it allows students to go to school without having to dough out the extra cash for living and travel expenses.
Madder says that tuition fees remain a big concern for them, adding that he met this morning with the college’s Foundation Board, and lowering tuition dominated discussions.
