‘Operation Impact’ Across Northwestern Ontario

You might notice an increased police presence on area highways this long weekend.
Provincial Police are taking part in Operation Impact, which is a national road safety campaign.
Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says they will be cracking down on impaired driving, seatbelt use, distracted driving and aggressive driving.
Schmidt says while the number of seatbelt related fatalities are down, distracted driving fatalities have been going up in recent years.
He notes aggressive driving has also been a problem in recent months.
This weekend OPP will be focusing on education, public awareness and enforcement.
