Keep the cell phone down while driving this weekend.
The OPP are making it a priority to watch for distracted drivers.
Constable Anne McCoy says young drivers are among the big offenders.
McCoy says it’s an easy distraction, but when we’re behind the wheel we have to focus on the task at hand, which is driving.
She adds the OPP will be working with their committees to educate the youth on the importance of putting the cell phone away and concentrate on driving.
The fine for using an electronic device while driving is $500.
Police will be also on the watch this weekend for aggressive drivers, speeders and those not wearing their seat belts.
The OPP say more than 10,000 distracted driving charges have been laid across the province so far this year.
