Opposition Not Impressed With Federal Budget

The opposition parties are taking aim at the federal budget.

Conservative interim leader, Rona Ambrose calls it a “nightmare scenario for Canadian taxpayers”.

She says the Liberals are borrowing way beyond its $10-billion deficit promise and notes taxes are going up.

Ambrose adds there’s no plan to create new jobs.

Ambrose says what she sees is “reckless spending without a job creation plan”.

She adds there’s no strategy to get the country back on stable financial ground.

The NDP say the Liberal government has broken a number of its election promises.

Leader Tom Mulcair says the Grits promised $3-billion on home care, but not a cent was dropped in Tuesday’s budget.

Mulcair says the government also fell way short in funding for First Nations children.

He adds the Liberals are robbing from the Employment Insurance fund to help offset its budget.

Mulcair says the budget also lacks funding for social housing.
