The provincial government says it’s looking at replacing the aging ORNGE fleet.
Health Minister Eric Hoskins is defending recent criticism in the Legislature, stressing the request for proposals doesn’t close until the end of the month.
He suggests other companies have expressed interest in supplying the new helicopters as well.
Hoskins says their goal is to have one single fleet for the entire province.
He notes this first step for ORNGE is replacing the aging Sikorski fleet in Moosenee.
Earlier this week, PC leader Patrick Brown called the lease of the Agusta Westland chopper “shady”.
But Hoskins says there’s nothing suspect about the lease agreement.
