Oxdrift Fire

3 people are alive today thanks to a working smoke detector.
The trio was sleeping late Thursday afternoon whan a fire broke out in their Highway 594 house & the sound of the alarm woke them in time to escape.
Investigators say it looks like the blaze started behind the oil furnace spreading quickly to the walls & ceiling.
Oxdrift Firefighters were assisted by members of the Dryden Fire Department in battling the flames.
Deputy Dryden Chief Ken Kurz says it not for the alarm, the story could have had a much sadder ending.
Ironically Departments across Canada will kick off Fire Prevention Week this weekend & 1 topic they will be pushing is making sure your detectors are in good working order.
