Progressive Conservative leader Doug Ford says he’ll scrap Ontario’s cap and trade program if elected Premier in June.
Ford says it’s the main reason for higher prices for gasoline and home heating fuel.
He believes the elimination of the program will lead to an immediate reduction in gasoline prices by 4.3-cents per litre.
Ford calls the carbon tax the “biggest rip-off he has ever seen”, vowing to cap taxes.
Ford says he’ll also fight any effort by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to impose a carbon tax on Ontario, all the way to the Supreme Court if he has to.
