The Mayor of Red Lake is fairly pleased following a meeting with Premier Kathleen Wynne and Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle.
The three discussed infrastructure deficiencies and regional economic development, among other things, at a sit-down gathering this past week in Red Lake.
The issue of generating more electricity for existing and proposed mines also came up during discussions.
Phil Vinet believes the meeting bodes well for getting their voice heard, noting the north has several issues that need to be addressed.
He says the visit allowed Wynne to get a pulse on what’s happening and what’s needed in northwestern Ontario.
Vinet adds Wynne and Gravelle were extremely receptive to listening to their concerns.
