Things Starting To Slow Down For MNR Fire Crews

The Ministry of Natural Resources is starting to scale back local operations.

Thee MNR is starting to prepare for the end of another quiet season.

Resources will be at about 50% of peak summer levels by early next week.

The Fall season approaches and fire activity has slowed but the MNR stresses they will still be prepared for any new starts.

Officials are currently looking into possible new starts brought on my recent lightning strikes.

Meantime, Ontario still has 33 aviation and fire personnel in Idaho and Montana.

The MNR also has dispatched four CL-415 heavy water bombers and two Birddog aircraft.

The province continues to provide equipment to Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan.

Here at home, the forest fire hazard ranges from low to high but rain is expected to drastically reduce the fire hazard throughout the region.
