Provincial Police have released the name of the pilot killed in Tuesday’s crash of a small plane in North Spirit Lake.
The pilot was 41-year-old Fariborz Abasabady of Lockport, Manitoba.
The newly hired pilot was flying the Keystone Air Service aircraft when it went down just before reaching the Northwestern Ontario community.
Airlines official George Riopka says Abasabady earlier worked for a couple of years as a flight instructor with Winnipeg Aviatio and had logged 2,400 flying hours.
Three passengers from Manitoba were also killed in the crash; 62-year-old Ben Van Hoek of Carmen, 39-year-old Colette Eisinger of Winnipeg and 38-year-old Martha Campbell of Winnipeg.
36-year-old Brian Shead survived the crash.
The Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
