Postal Union Won’t Give Up Fight To Fully Restore Door-to-Door Delivery

Although Canada Post is cancelling a move to community mailboxes, the Trudeau government has announced that the 840,000 households who already lost door-to-door mail delivery won’t be getting it back.

That’s not sitting well with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, who support the cancellation of the program, but say the Liberals have broken a campaign promise.

Union National President Mike Palecek says their union is currently in negotiations for a new contract and the issue of full restoration of door-to-door mail delivery will be brought to the bargaining table.

Palecek says he’s also encouraged the government has a willingness for change.

He says the Liberals appear to be open to innovation and an expansion of services at Canada Post.
