Product Care Association Hoping To Keep Old Paint Out Of Landfill Sites

A new association is taking over the collection and recycling of old paint in Ontario.
The Product Care Association is an industry-led initiative that takes over from Stewardship Ontario.
Waste Diversion Ontario’s Michael Scott says the switch over will occur at the end of June.
Scott says under the Association’s plan, he expects to see more opportunities for residents to drop off used paint and coatings for recycling and more of those materials staying out of landfill sites.
He adds there might also be increased opportunities in northwestern Ontario with retailers acting as depots to collect used paint.
