Promoting such agencies as the Dryden-based Cloverbelt Food Coop.
That’s the goal of the province with the launch of a Northern Ontario Agri-Food Strategy.
Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle says the government is hoping to boost fish-farming, and food processing.
Gravelle says they already have a strong industry, but notes the government can help it grow in order to strengthen the regional economy.
Gravelle says the strategy also aims to increase business opportunities for Indigenous people and communities in the Agri-Food sector.
The plan hopes to encourage local residents to buy more locally produced and processed food.
