The Ontario Government is upgrading three forest fire response centres.
The 47-million-dollar investment will go to:
– renovating an existing building and purchasing a nearby aviation hander for the Sudbury facility
– relocating the Hailburton Fire Management Headquarters to the nearby Hailburton/Stanhope Municipal Airport
– rebuilding the existing Armstrong Fire Attack Base
Construction is expected to begin later this year, which will create many jobs.
There is no word on any additional funding for any locations in Northwestern Ontario.
