Rainy River District School Board Surplus

While many school boards across Ontario struggle to balance their books, the Rainy River District School Board is reporting a surplus.
Chief Financial Officer Laura Mills notes the board finished last school year with a $774,000 surplus.
The money will be placed into reserves and some will be used for classroom expenditures.
On the downside, Mills adds School offices, plant operations and transportation are areas in which the board is being underfunded.
The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board also finished last school year with a fairly healthy surplus.
