Rainy River First Nations has close vote 2

The new council has been elected for the Rainy River First Nation, and it will be under the guidance of new Chief Jim Leonard.

Leonard won a closely contested race against the incumbent Chief Albert Hunter by just eight votes.

Leonard had 93 votes to Hunter’s 85, and third was Agnes Grover.

Rainy River First Nation’s council will consist of previous members Allan Wilson, Marcel Horton and Robin McGuiness, as well as newcomers Tony Bombay and Nicole Cochrane.
