A $6.5 million Provincial commitment for the Meno-Ya-Win Health Center will allow officials to move forward on construction plans.
The new 63 bed Hospital will combine up-to-date technology with traditional healing to serve Sioux Lookout, the entire area and 28 remote First Nation Communities.
CAO Roger Walker says they hope to break ground on the facility next Spring.
Walker adds the total cost of the project is not known as officials continue to meet with both levels of Government regarding the scope of the Hospital.
The Meno-Ya-Win Health Center will replace the 2 aging Hospitals in Sioux Lookout.
It will be staffed by people who speak the languages of the area’s First Nations.
