Record Low for Fires

It’s been the quietest fire season on record in Northwestern Ontario.
The area has seen a total of 210 forest fires, burning a total of 1,300 hectares, 1,200 of that from one blaze in the Fort Frances District.
MNR Information Officer Mitch Miller says although the season officially doesn’t end until October 31st, he says it’s going to be a quiet couple of weeks.
Miller says they have scaled back staff as a result.
