Red Lake is losing its weekly newspaper.
The Editor of the Northern Sun News has used social media to advise readers that the September 2nd edition is going to be the last and the paper is going to be closing ‘indefinitely.’
Red Lake Mayor Phil Vinet hopes a local newspaper can continue in some way.
Vinet says the paper has been a part of him since he was a kid and is hoping it can be saved.
Vinet calls it a sad day as the service is a “vital component” to the community.
The operator, Alex Wilson Coldstream Limited, has been unavailable for comment.
