The Provincial Government has strengthened forest fire fighting capacity
in Northern Ontario.
The Ministry of Natural Resources is building a new facility in
Chapleau and upgrading the Management complex at the Greenstone Airport.
Debbie McLean says its part of the Province’s plan to move to land based
facilities and away from water based Fire Aviation Centres.
She says locally they are sitting in great shape.
Modifications to the Dryden, Pickle Lake and Kenora bases have already
been made.
