Regional Army Reservist Calling For More Spending

One northwestern Ontario army reservist agrees Canada may not be pulling its weight in NATO when it comes to military spending.

Corporal Tucker Arnold says we are spending less money on our three military branches; the Air Force, Navy and Army.

Arnold says NATO requires more.

He notes the Canadian Forces was looking at spending a lot of their budget on the Navy, stressing we don’t have enough vessels and they have a lot more territory to cover, primarily in the Arctic.

However, the Thunder Bay reservist says we are very much involved in combative roles, citing our countries commitment in the fight against Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.

He says our role then switched to a training mission, with teaching and training the Afghan army.
