Relay For Life Tonight In Red Lake

For 12 hours, Red Lake will ‘Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back’!

The Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life is being held at Centennial Park starting at 7:00 Friday night.

Co-Chair Jennifer Thurbide says the fundraiser is open to the public and there will games, food, activities and entertainment.

More than 120-participants are scheduled to take part in a bid to raise funds for cancer research and travel for cancer patients.

The Survivors lap will be held around 8:00 o’clock.

Thurbide says they don’t have a specific fundraising goal this year, although Red Lake in the past has reached six digit figures.

Red Lake continues to have success in this event, while other communities have faltered in recent years.

Thurbide says people who work on the Relay are incredibly passionate about the cause and each year they want to put on the best event possible in order to honour cancer victims.

She says they need to work harder to support cancer patients and help them cope with the disease.
