The Kenora District Municipal Association is taking a pro-active approach in a bid to limit the Northwestern Health Unit Municipal Levy.
The group is asking Councils to petition the Board of Directors of the Health Unit to limit any increase to no more than 3%.
Dryden Councilor Gary Case sits on the Board and says he doesn’t agree with the action.
Case says he sees no point to the resolution considering the Health Unit is still a few month’s away from drafting its budget.
Case adds reps from Dryden and Kenora are on the Board this year as opposed to last year when Directors approved a 36% Municipal Levy increase.
He believes that will limit any proposed hike.
Although Case and Brian Collins are opposed to the petition, the City of Dryden has agreed to proceed with the KDMA resolution.
Case suggests the budget process could be completed in December at the earliest.
