Resolute Forest Products is picking up three sawmills in the U.S. south.
Resolute will pay close to 170-million dollars for the mills in Florida and Arkansas currently owned by Conifex Timber.
Company president Yves Laflamme says the acquisitions are part of their plans to diversity their lumber production.
Running at full capacity, a quarter of Resolute’s U.S. production will come from those three mills.
