Despite being a colourful and controversial figure, Rob Ford is being remembered as a kind and caring man.
The former Toronto mayor and councillor was laid to rest today and succumbing to cancer last week at age 46.
Former Ontario Liberal MP Dan McTeague knew the Ford family well, their family cottages were next door to each other in Peterborough.
“A great loss for our communities and certainly a great loss for the many causes and organizations that he helped along the way and he never wanted any recognition for,” he notes.
McTeague says Ford was the type of guy who would literally “give the shirt off his back” to help someone.
