School Dispute Goes On

The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board and the Union representing Education Support Staff are set to resume contract talks with a mediator today.
Support staff have been off the job since November and outside parties are urging the two sides to reach an agreement.
Kenora-Rainy River M-P-P Howard Hampton says the labour dispute has disrupted our schools for far too long, and adds he hopes the school board comes forward with an improved offer.
The Grand Chief of Grand Council Treaty #3 also feels the strike has gone on to long.
Leon Jourdain says the dispute has affected many aboriginal special need students.
The latest round of negotiations will be held in Dryden, and picketers are expected to be out in full force.
Hours of work remains the contenous issue.
