Area schools are getting more information on new rules affecting the sale of food to students.
New regulations that went into effect in September place a limit on the amount of trans fat food items that can be sold at school cafeterias and vending machines.
Julie Slack a nutritionist with the Northwestern Health Unit says the figure is limited to less than 5 per cent in food and 2 per cent in a liquid product.
Slack says the act does provide 10-special event days where the school can sell items that exceed the new requirements.
