Security Measures End at Kenora Schools

The lock down of schools in the North End have come to an end.

6 Schools including Thomas Aquinas, Beaver Brae, Pope John Paul. Ste. Marguerite Bourgeoys, Valleyview and Evergreen were put into lock down around 10:00.

Kenora OPP say the action was taken when they received reports of someone with a hand gun the area.

Police quickly responded and took 2 people into custody.

TA, SMB, and PJP remain closed to the public into the early afternoon as police searched for evidence.

At around 1:15 officers found the suspected firearm with turned out to be a pistol style pellet gun.

Shortly there after all security measures still in place were lifted.

No injuries were reported in the incident and end of day bus schedules have not been affected.
