The Second Annual Sioux Walleye Weekend was a roaring success with 51 teams taking part in the two day tournament this past weekend.
Organizers had targeted 50 teams and alloed for up to 10% overflow.
The tournament is unique in that it is a ‘catch and keep’ tournament that prohibits the use of live wells or stringers. All fish caught must either be released or immediately tagged and kept. Anglers have a choice of taking their catch home or donating it to and Elders program in Sioux Lookout.
The tournament was won by brother Jason and Todd MacDonald with 21.26 pounds of fish over the two days.
Second Place – J & R Mansfield – 19.82 pounds
Third Place – Kuzemchuk and Fluegel – 18.8 pounds
Fourth Place – Shirley and Marion – 18.7 pounds
Fifth Place – Roy and Kendall – 18.26 pounds
Event organizers say they plan to keep the tournament at about fifty teams in 2010.
