New child care spaces are coming to Sioux Mountain Elementary in Sioux Lookout.
The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board received about 2-million dollars in provincial funding to create rooms for a new preschool room designed for 24 students and a new toddler room designed for 15 students.
Principal Darryl Tinney says the new additions just make sense as it provides a one-stop shop for parents and caretakers and their partnerships with local groups help ensure they provide the best care.
Tinney also says the daycare spaces are just down the hall from the kindergarten classrooms which helps create a seamless transition from toddlers to young students.
He also says the next step is to revamp the pre-school as well as the kindergarten play structure.
