The Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate and is now looking into an incident at the Kenora Jail.
Provincial Police were called on Monday night to deal with an altercation at the jail earlier that day.
It dealt with OPP officers transporting a prisoner to the facility.
No other details are known.
The SIU investigates reports involving police where there has been a death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
