Softwood Victory-Lim

A big victory for Ontario lumber producers.

A NAFTA panel has ruled that lumber produced in the province is not subsidized and therefore should not be
subject to counterveiling duties.

The ruling by the NAFTA panel also suggests that hundreds of millions of dollars in duties collected by the U.S. government should be returned.

Jamie Lim is president of the Ontario Forest Industries Association and says the decision is long overdue.

N009 Q: …GOING FORWARD. (15 SECS.)

Lim adds that the NAFTA ruling proves that duties should never have been collected on Ontario lumber exports.
