Vermilion Bay will be home to a new Sports and Leadership Development Program beginning in September.
The program designed for Grades 6,7 and 8 is open to all students in the Dryden area.
Lillianberg School Principal Suzanne Bastable, who is spearheading the pilot project, says she got the idea when the Director of Education asked principals to think about programs that would benefit students.
Bastable says a program featuring sports seemed like an ideal fit since the school has the right facilities.
The program will offer various sports including hockey, figure skating, soccer, basketball and track and field.
She adds the school will also hire a fitness trainer to work with students.
