Study on Tourist Centre

A joint-committee has been formed to examine the future of the Dryden
Tourist Center.
City Manager Arie Hoogenboom says the present facility is not that
attractive compared to other Centres on the Trans-Canada Highway.
Hoogenboom says they are looking at a number of options including
finding a central site for the Centre and Max the Moose.
The group consists of 6-people from the City and Chamber of Commerce
and the first meeting is slated for early April.
Meanwhile, despite continued lobbying efforts, the Ontario Travel Information Centre in Fort Frances will not be relocated anytime soon.
The Town has not been able to convince the Minister of Tourism to move the facility.
Statistics have showed a big drop in the number of visitors at the Fort Frances centre since the new Canada Customs building opened in 2001.
Officials have been looking at moving the centre from its current site to a location further east on Church Street so its more visible to traffic leaving the border gateway area.
