Support For Atikokan Plant

Additional support for the Atikokan Coal-Fired Generating Station.
A report conducted by Lakehead University Economics Professor Dr. Livio Di Matteo suggest more research has to be done into a Provincial plan to close such facilities.
Di Matteo adds that the Atikokan Station meets all current Ontario pollution standards and shutting it down would be devastating to the Town’s economy.
He adds that an immediate, efficient and cost effective energy alternative has to be in place before the Province makes any move.
Energy Minister Dwight Duncan will be in Atikokan Saturday to tour the Coal Plant and meet with Mayor Dennis Brown.
