Support For Syrian Family Continues

One local group is helping in efforts to bring a Syrian family of six to Dryden.

With the Moosefest Committee now dissolved, former Chair Pame Williams has decided to donate the remaining funds to the campaign.

Williams has handed Tara Chasowy a cheque worth nearly $300, the rest of the money left over from Dryden’s Summer Festival after fees and closing the account.

On Facebook, she says its not much but stresses every little bit helps to put a smile on someone’s face.

Williams notes they wanted to help have peace and joy in our country when the Jandali family arrives.

The Syrian volunteer group continues to receive amazing support, with the initial goal of more than $30,000 achieved.

However, more work is needed to help the Jandali family.

Fundraising continues and donations can be dropped off at Viva Dental.

Clothing, household items and everyday items are also needed.

According to the Dryden Syrian Refugee Facebook page, if a place isn’t secured in time for the family, someone has come forward to provide a temporary home.

There is no word on when the Jandali family will arrive.
