It’s something Dryden Council has been asked to consider and now it’s being pursued at the provincial level.
The Liberal government is proposing legislation to ban smoking on playgrounds, sports fields, and restaurant and bar patios.
A youth group with the Northwestern Health Unit approached Dryden Council in September to consider such a move.
Council hinted at that time that they would wait to see if the province would make a move.
The proposed bill would also prohibit the sale of flavoured tobacco products to anyone under 18 and increase fines for those caught selling tobacco to youth.
