Another attempt is going to be made to have a vast area spanning the boundary of northwestern Ontario and Manitoba declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Ontario and Manitoba Government’s are trying to get the Pimachiowin Aki area of boreal forest recognized by the United Nations.
Last year, the World Heritage Committee deferred its decision and now the Manitoba and Ontario Government’s and First Nations are re-working their application.
The deadline is February 1st, but if they can’t make that they will have to wait until 2016.
Officials warn they may not meet the deadline.
