Taxes Not Going Up in Ignace

Taxes will not be going up in Ignace.
Council has approved the 2009 Municipal Budget with no tax or service charge increases.
Mayor Lionel Cloutier says Council favoured expenditure reductions in order to balance the budget.
There will be a reduction in travel and training for Council and staff, with the exception of health and safety training.
Cloutier adds a reduction in capital spending was also approved.
Council also converted a public works position from year round to seasonal.
Cloutier says money has been set aside to hire a full time Economic Development Officer.
