The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board has reached a tentative
4-year contract with Elementary teachers.
Peter Andrusco is the local President of the Elementary Teachers
Federation of Ontario and says a lot of time went into securing a deal.
Details of the contract won’t be released until ratification by both
parties.
Andrusco is recommending members accept the deal.
Meetings will be held in Dryden, Red Lake and Kenora starting Thursday
and the contract is expected to be approved by teachers on June 7th.
Trustees will vote on the contract June 14th.
With a tentative contract in place with Elementary teachers, the
Keewatin-Patricia District School Board can now turn its attention to
Secondary teachers.
Noth sides are expected to sit down June 6th and 7th, well after a
Provincial deadline.
Chief Financial Officer Dean Carrie says he’s hoping the Province cuts
them some slack.
At stake is thousands of dollars in funding.
The Board also plans to meet this month with Educational Assistants and
Occasional teachers.
