Local leaders are once again calling for changes at the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation.
Terrace Bay Mayor Jodi Davis says the tax assessment process for towns with large industrial and commercial bases must be stabilized, noting the province needs to work together with municipalities.
Davis says the value of the Terrace Bay mill has gone from $50 to $15 million in three reassessments, even though the mill has essentially been producing the same amount of product.
He notes one of the biggest problems with MPAC is nobody seems to understand the rationale behind why the assessment formula seems to be changing.
