This Is Problem Gambling Prevention Week

The Responsible Gambling Council wants to bring more awareness to problem gambling.

October 2nd-8th is ‘Problem Gambling Prevention Week’ in the Kenora and Rainy River Districts.

Project Manager at the RGC Heather Ly says there are some warning signs to watch out for regarding problem gambling.

Ly notes they include visible frustration as well as more open discussion on gambling.

She adds other signs include feeling guilty, revolving more of your life around gambling and experiencing extreme highs and lows.

Ly adds there are some good measures to take if you believe you have a problem including seeking help, taking up a hobby and never gamble more than you can afford to lose.

Roughly 3.4% of Ontario residents have gambling problems or about 2,000 residents in this region.
