Thunder Bay Police Chief Sylvie Hauth says she shares concerns about a viral video showing a female police officer appearing to strike a teenage girl on a gurney.
Police say the incident took place on Saturday night in a home, when they were helping paramedics on another matter
While at the scene, they say an intoxicated 17-year-old girl was found and being readied on a stretcher to be taken to hospital.
That’s when police say the officer can be seen to be in physical contact with the youth.
According to police, the officer involved has been told she is under investigation and is off-duty.
Police are also investigating what they say are threats against their officers, made through social media.
