Time to Grab a Licence for Your Cat

Dryden cat owners will soon need a license for their feline.
Stray and abandoned cats occupy a great deal of the Pet Control
Officers time with trapping, lodging and food and Council has decided to
give cats the same treatment as dogs.
The City stresses licensing would increase the ability of the Pet
Control Officer to reunite wandering cats with their owner.
It’s also expected to generate up to $12,000 in revenue for
the City.
Meantime, Dog owners in Dryden will soon be required to pay $5 more to
license their pet.
The fee has not been changed since 1998 and the hike is expected to
generate $3,500 more for the City.
A reduction will be offered for those pets that can be proven to have been spayed or neutered.
Council is expected to approve the changes at its December 17th meeting.
