Trustees with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board have made an unprecendented move by asking the vice-chair of the board to resign.
A majority of trustees including board chair Barb Hancock approved a resolution asking Bill Dawes to step down as vice-chair.
Trustees were critical of comments Dawes made to a Sioux Lookout newspaper regarding the education support strike.
Dawes inists he was misquoted but trustees say they were still unhappy that the vice-chair seemed to be speaking on behalf of the board.
School board bylaws do not allow the removal of the chair of vice-chair of their positions in mid-term so the resolution does not have any force and Dawes did not tender his resignation at the Tuesday night board meeting.
