Two Former Miners Commit To Portage College

Two graduating members of the English River Miners are moving on to greener pastures.

Mark Ziobro and Terix Fischer-Kobes have committed to the Portage College Voyageurs program in northern Alberta.

English River Coach Derek Sweet-Coulter says Fischer-Kobes will no doubt represent Portage with the same class that he represented with the Miners for the past two seasons.

He adds Ziobro has great character and leadership skills and will be an important asset to his new hockey team.

Sweet-Coulter adds he’s incredibly proud of both players.

Voyageurs Head Coach Nate Bedford says he’s confident that the two players will fit the type of individuals that he is looking for.

Bedford notes both Ziobro and Fischer-Kobes were alternate captains on the Miners, which shows the trust that English River Coach, Derek Sweet-Coulter has in them.

The two join former Ice Dogs players Ben Dennis and Colton Sandboe on the Voyageurs team.
