The Keewatin Patricia District School Board is proud of two of their students who have been appointed to the 2018-2019 Minister’s Student Advisory Council.
Red Lake High School’s Drea Sinclair and Queen Elizabeth District High School’s Tristan Bouchard were selected from more than 400 applicants.
Sinclair says she applied to be the voice for northern communities, noting she has seen a lot of students struggling with mental health, stressing she wants to make a difference.
Sinclair notes she was surprised to be selected and is ready to bring more awareness on northern issues at the provincial level.
Sioux Lookout’s Tristan Bouchard says he applied for the position at the last moment, stressing he was excited to be selected to represent local students.
He notes one topic he wants to focus on is making the transition into high school easier for students.
