A community information session is taking place today (Thursday) in Red Lake to discuss a proposed Union Gas pipeline.
Phase one of the project involves constructing a pipeline from the former Griffith Mine site north of Ear Falls to the intersection of Highway’s 105 and 125.
The second phase involves constructing distribution pipelines to provide natural gas service to residents of Red Lake, Balmertown, Cochenour and the Chukuni River subdivision.
Union Gas Spokesperson Andrea Stass says they will be seeking input and answering questions at the Red Lake Heritage Centre from 4 until 7 o’clock.
Stass says pending Ontario Energy Board approval, the first phase of the project could start next November, with the second phase getting going in 2012.
