Unofficial Election Results in Kenora

For the first time ever, a Conservative will represent the Kenora Riding in Ottawa.
Greg Rickford picked up 9,335 votes (40.31%) in yesterday’s Federal Election, enough to unseat Liberal Roger Valley who attracted 7,368 votes (31.82%).
Rickford called the win ‘Mission Impossible: accomplished.’
Rickford says he’s overwhelmed with the public’s support for his party and says this election will go down in the history books.
Rickford says he’s looking forward to improving living conditions on area first nations and working towards improving Northwestern Ontario’s economy.
Valley says he has no regrets and credits his Liberal team and family for his success in Ottawa and in the Kenora Riding.
He says he will take some time to review his options, but he expects to stay involved in politics.
Tania Cameron of the NDP received 5,375 votes (23.21%).
Cameron says she learned a lot on the campaign trail and vows to be back.
She says next go-round she will spend more time meeting with individual voters across the Region.
JoJo Holiday of the Green picked up 1,078 votes (4.66%).
Holiday also plans to run again and notes she was pleased with her performance.
The only time the Kenora Riding was not Red, was in 1984 when John Parry held one term with the NDP.
Valley held the Kenora Riding since 2004, when he took over from Bob Nault.
