The Provincial Government is inviting proposals for the use of a
value-added product in Northwestern Ontario.
Between 300,000 and 400,000 cubic metres of white birch in the
Thunder Bay-Atikokan area will be made available each year.
Atikokan Mayor Dennis Brown says its a chance to boost the local
economy by using the wood to create new jobs.

Successful applicants will be determined based on a number of criteria,
including economic viability, ecological sustainability and partnerships
with local Communities and First Nations.
